Fightstar come off hiatus as Charlie Simpson masters solo LP
By Aly Barchi | Published on Wednesday 26 February 2014
Charlie ‘McSpoilsport’ Simpson’s serious rock group Fightstar have been lured out of semi-retirement by Jägermeister. The band, who confirmed a vague ‘hiatus’ in 2010, have now gone back into the studio to do-over their 2009 single, ‘Follow Me Into The Darkness’, which will soundtrack the alcohol brand’s first UK TV ad.
Meanwhile, Fightstar are also due to start writing again once Simpson is done promoting his second solo LP, which though almost mastered is still TBC.
They say as one: “We always strive to bring a strong cinematic quality to our music and ‘Follow Me Into The Darkness’ is a prime example of us creating film score music for films that only existed in our minds. It’s been a pleasure to rework this track and find a visual home for it alongside this extraordinarily filmic and beautifully crafted ad”.
So please all, crowd round, do a shot (only one, and only adults) and look at 40 seconds’ worth of said ad, which will debut in full from 5 Mar:
