Public Enemy dude Flavor Flav has accepted a plea deal over domestic violence charges stemming from an incident in 2012.

As previously reported, Flav, real name William Drayton Jr, was arrested after an altercation with his girlfriend Liz Trujillo, after which he was accused of beating one person and threatening another. It subsequently transpired that the third person involved in the fracas was Trujillo’s then seventeen year old son.

Drayton was facing felony assault and child endangerment charges in a trial due to begin later this month, but has now agreed with the prosecution to plead guilty to lesser charges, which will result in probation and counselling rather than a jail term.

According to ABC, the failed chicken seller, top reality TV booking and sometime hip hop legend told reporters that he didn’t expect pleading guilty in this case to impact on the separate driving on a suspended license case that’s going through the motions in New York State.

He told reporters: “I’m standing here in front of the camera, not behind bars”.
