Gaga shuns fur, opts for meat-wear instead

Last year, US animal rights group PETA were pleased when Lady Gaga vowed to never wear animal skins, though that’s possibly because they didn’t realize the singer planned to wear the flesh from under the skins instead. OK, it’s possible that wasn’t what Gaga meant at the time, but on the cover of the latest issue of the Japanese edition of Vogue Hommes the singer is wearing a bikini made of slabs of meat. It’s rather grim, and it hasn’t pleased the aforementioned PETA. Their President, Ingrid Newkirk, told reporters this week: “Lady Gaga’s job is to do outlandish things, and this certainly qualifies as outlandish because meat is something you want to avoid putting on or in your body. No matter how beautifully it is presented, flesh from a tortured animal is flesh from a tortured animal. Meat represents bloody violence and suffering, so if that’s the look they were going for, they achieved it”.
