Rounding up the latest gig news…

Michael Bublé has blown a beautiful mass of four tour dates, which will land at Newcastle’s Metro Radio Arena (5 Dec), Leeds’ First Direct Arena (8 Dec), and London’s O2 Arena, twice, on 15 and 16 Dec. So that’s mum’s Xmas gift sorted, I suppose. That, or a cut-price bargain bin edition of Mike’s 2013 LP ‘To Be Loved’. Look upon the tour listings now, if you will.

Civil rights poster-woman and silvery-haired folk babe Joan Baez (pictured) will grace several ‘Evening with…’ style dates this September, right inside London’s Royal Festival Hall. The rare mini-tour spans four stops in all, from 17-21 Sep. Here is a link to get tickets, and here – because, what’s the harm – is Joan being great as ever, even despite Sue Lawley, on ‘Desert Island Discs’ all the way back in 1993, aka her most admirable achievement to date.

Calgary’s #1 garage-rock scrap man, the amazing Chad VanGaalen, has also announced some shows, though his aren’t at the Royal Festival Hall. Capping off a super-large tour of the US, Chad will make UK fans glad only twice, at End Of The Road Festival on 31 Aug, and again on 1 Sep at Oslo in Hackney, London. And all for the love (and sales) of his forthcoming approved LP, ‘Shrink Dust’, which is out 28 Apr. Buy into the Oslo show via this ticket link, and listen to just-unpacked ‘Shrink Dust’ track ‘Monster’ right now:

And finally, another galaxy of cool Nordic popstars is to shine bright at the latest instance of London-based showcase night Ja Ja Ja. Finnish soloist Suvi, Danish bard Sebastian Lind and synth-pop singer-songwriter Farao are all signed on to play live at Ja Ja Ja’s usual spot, the Lexington, on 24 Apr. Click here to RSVP to the event, and get a feel for Suvi’s vibe with the video for ‘Find You’, her new single, which is out on 14 Apr:
