Rounding up the latest gig news…

Hey, remember when Prince said he was going to play a load of UK shows this year, then he played a few and fucked off back to America? You thought he was all gone for good, didn’t you? Well, you were wrong. He just had to go and sign a record contract. He’ll be back for three shows next month. So says The Guardian, anyway.

Although there’s no venue information as yet, Prince will apparently be playing in Birmingham on 15 May, Manchester on 16 May and Leeds on 23 May.

Providing more concrete details, Ms Lauryn Hill has announced a super-rare UK show – ‘rare’ in that she hasn’t played on our isle since 2012. It takes place at London’s Brixton Academy on 20 Sep, and tickets will be available for sale at 9am on 2 May (aka Friday), here.

Next is overnight ‘Hideaway’ pop-sation Kiesza, who in reaction to the massive thirst for tickets to an initial headline date at London’s Electrowerkz on 22 May, has added an additional show in the capital, this one at XOYO on 3 Jun. Pre-sale tickets to the gig, which fits in neatly with Kiesza’s festival appearances at this year’s Love Saves The Day, Parklife, Glastonbury, Wireless, Lovebox and Bestival, are available here.

Bizzy R&B bee Lizzo (pictured), the Minneapolis rapper still flying high on the looming shape of her first LP ‘LIZZOBANGERS’ (released 16 Jun), has added a headline show at Oslo, in London, on 2 Jul.

It slots in at the midpoint of a hectic festival season for Lizzo, who plays Liverpool Sound City, Live At Leeds, Stag & Dagger and The Great Escape as well as Wireless and Reading & Leeds (so basically every fest ever), and will in all likeliness find her doing her new single ‘Faded’ – which is released the same day as ‘LIZZOBANGERS’, all live, like.

Look at the official ‘Faded’ promo, which co-stars Har Mar Superstar and little Kevin off of ‘Home Alone’, while you wait in line for tickets to the Oslo show, right now:

Rising up fifth and finally in this Gigs & Tours horizon, it’s Suuns, who are doing a one-off London show, at the Village Underground, on 29 Sep, following a drop-in at Liverpool Psych Fest on 26 Sep. Both dates, which are a small part of a larger European tour, go to show off the band’s latest LP, ‘Images Du Futur’.

Check availability to the London show via this link, and stay on to watch a short film, taped live at a gig in Dijon, France, which features all-time Suuns faves ‘Arena’, ‘2020’, and ‘Bambi’:
