CMU approved acerbic rock quartet Girl Band have signed a worldwide recording contract with Rough Trade. You may all punch the air now.

Taking a break from punching the air themselves, the band said in a statement: “Absolutely stoked to announce that we have signed a record deal with Rough Trade Records. This label has put out some of the most influential music for the four of us so it’s incredibly cool to be working with them”.

Then they all went back to punching the air again. Don’t overdo it, boys. You’re going to need those arms. For music and that. Oh, it’s OK, I’m sure they know what they’re doing. They got some practice in last month when they announced that they’d signed up with William Morris Endeavor for American tour booking purposes.

At that point, they wheezed: “Delighted to announce that we’ll be working with Robby Fraser at WME agency in North and South America. This dude personally books a lot of our favourite acts like Tom Waits, The Flaming Lips, QOTSA, Slint, and Arctic Monkeys so obviously we’re chuffed to be working with him”.

So everyone’s very excited. That’s nice. Let’s all expel some of that energy together in a positive way early next year when the band play the Old Blue Last in London on 27 Jan, or even at The Speakeasy in Belfast on 7 Feb.

What’s that you say? Oh go on then, as it’s you. Here are the videos for recent(ish) singles ‘De Bom Bom’ and ‘Lawman’:
