Girls Aloud not splitting

By | Published on Wednesday 24 March 2010

It’s alright, you can all breath a sigh of relief, Cheryl Cole has denied the latest round of rumours that Girls Aloud have split up.

The rumours were rekindled recently after Chezza told a Danish TV show that, although she’d had four number one singles, only the most recent was as a solo artist, saying: “The previous three tracks were with a girl group I was with for seven years – so to be number one solo was crazy, like the best feeling in the world”.

The first use of the word “was” in that sentence sent everyone (well, some people) into a frenzy, even though it sounds like she’s putting something into context for an audience which might not be aware of her earlier work, rather than announcing that Girls Aloud are gone, never to return.

Speaking to Radio 1 yesterday, Cole confirmed that the group plan to work together again following their current hiatus. She said: “We did sign a three album record deal just before we all did our own thing. The last time we did anything together was when we supported Coldplay at Wembley, which was only September, so it hasn’t even been a year. We haven’t really spoken about anything yet. There are three albums just sitting there waiting to do – it just hasn’t been put into place yet”.
