GIT Award presented to All We Are, Deltasonic founder Alan Wills remembered
By Andy Malt | Published on Tuesday 7 April 2015
The GIT Award ceremony took place in Liverpool on Saturday night, naming All We Are’s debut album the most exciting release to come out of the city in the last twelve months.
Currently on tour with The Vaccines, the band sent Stealing Sheep’s Becky Hawley to collect the award along with a video acceptance speech, with drummer Richard O’Flynn saying: “Thanks so much guys, we’re really, really blown away. Thanks for making us part of the family”.
As well as the main prize, and the previously announced One To Watch award, which went to Louis Berry, a new Inspiration Award was presented posthumously to Deltasonic founder Alan Wills, who was killed in a traffic accident last year.
Liverpool Sound City CEO Dave Pichilingi gave a speech about his late friend’s importance to the Liverpool music scene. Deltasonic’s Ann Heston and a number of bands involved with the label then came up to accept the award. Heston said from the stage: “It’s been a long, really tough year. But there have been some positives and we’re going to carry on helping young musicians”.
