Mmmbop, dah-bah-doowop, dibby dah-bah-doobop, dah-bah-doo ye-y yeah, Hanson have announced they are launching a beer festival.

Having foisted their own Mmmhops Pale Ale on the world last year, the brothers Hanson will host the very first edition of The Hop Jam beer festival as part of American Craft Beer Week next month. Congratulations to everyone who predicted that would happen in 1997, you may collect your prize now.

In total, fourteen breweries, including the Hansons’ own, will showcase their beers at the event in Tulsa, Oklahoma on 18 May, and there will be musical performances from several groups. Including Hanson. One performance slot is still waiting to be filled, with a competition launched this week to find an Oklahoma act to fill it. The winning band will also have one of their songs made available as a free download via a QR code on bottles of Mmmhops. Yeah, a QR code. Lap it up, Okies.

Says Taylor Hanson (that’s the one you thought was a girl) said: “Through The Hop Jam, our hope is that we can help support the craft beer community and foster a one of a kind music event, while also creating an anchor for the city’s downtown renewal”.
