Island Recs sign Ill Blu
By Aly Barchi | Published on Wednesday 2 April 2014
London production two Ill Blu, aka James Grant and Darius Ellington Forde, have signed some papers equating to a contract with Universal’s Island Records. The deal will spring its first single in a track titled ‘Blu Magic’, which features the voice of Max Marshall, and will be available in shops on 5 May.
And here it is:
Covering virtually all bases sound-wise, a press release (via FACT) by the label states Ill Blu’s future Island releases will be inspired by “the musicality of Artful Dodger and Wookie, the bass weight of Shy FX, the sampler’s ear of people like DJ Premier, the soul of Teedra Moses and the future shock production of legendary US R&B producers like Rodney Jerkins and The Neptunes”.
