So keen is Charlie Simpson to break the Guinness World Record for playing the world’s coldest gig, he’s only volunteered to go to sub-arctic Siberia as part of a stunt sponsored by Jagermeister.

Fortified – I’m assuming – with 100 shots of that very spirit, Simpson will fly to the remote town of Oymyaok (population 470) to perform an ‘Ice Cold’ set in temperatures of -40˚C.

He says: “The Jagermeister Ice Cold Gig is by far one of the biggest challenges of my career, but I’m really excited to get out there and see a part of our planet that very few people will ever get to visit. It’s not really an option to play my guitar wearing gloves, so I just hope my fingers don’t freeze”.

The fate of Charlie’s fingers will be decided when the gig takes place on 24 Nov. More info here.
