Jay-Z executive producing Gatsby OST
By Aly Barchi | Published on Monday 18 March 2013
It’s official, Jay-Z is boss of the score to Baz Luhrmann’s brash new ‘Great Gatsby’ adaptation, remember, the one potentially featuring Lady Gaga, Prince and Lana Del Rey. He’ll executive-produce composer Craig Armstrong’s OST to the film, and (again, potentially) add new tracks of his own devising.
Says Jay, who sparked the collaboration when he invited Luhrmann and ‘Gatsby’ star Leonard DiCaprio to the recording of his and Kanye West’s ‘Watch The Throne’ track ‘No Church In The Wild: “As soon as I spoke with Baz, I knew this was the right project. ‘The Great Gatsby’ is that classic American story of one’s introduction to extravagance, decadence and illusion. It’s ripe for experimentation and ready to be interpreted with a modern twist”.
‘The Great Gatsby’ will be released in cinemas on 17 May. This is its trailer:
