Job ad: Point Blank – Marketing & Branding Module Leader (London)

Point Blank is an award-winning music school based in London, Los Angeles, Ibiza, Mumbai, China and online. We specialise in Higher Education and practical courses in subjects including Music Production and Sound Engineering, DJ Practice and Performance, Singing and Songwriting, Music Industry Management, and Radio Production and Broadcasting.

We are looking for a module leader to come onboard to teach and lead our Marketing and Branding module which is part of our Music Production and Sound Engineering and Music Production and DJ Performance degrees.

We are looking to appoint someone who is an experienced music business and music industry marketing HE lecturer with previous experience of working as a module leader.

• Sample Clearance & Synchronisation
• Future of the Music Industry

Candidates need to be team players who are reliable and keen to work in a Higher Education environment with a diverse group of students. Excellent communication skills are essential, as is attention to detail.

Module Leader responsibilities:
• responsible for the efficient running and delivery of all instances of a module
• termly management of lecturers
• delivering classes of the module in our London and Online Schools
• collate and share termly lecturer feedback
• produce a termly Module Leader report which analyses the performance of the module, and provides actions based on lecturer and student feedback.
• consider feedback from External Examiners and take any necessary actions
• ensure marking feedback of lecturers is of a high standard
• organise termly standardisation and calibration of assignments
• termly peer observations, and produce resulting observation reports
• receive and process termly module data from Programme Leader
• provide guidance to lecturers on Middlesex University regulations
• liaise and maintain relationships with external bodies, industry contacts and professional, statutory and regulatory bodies where appropriate
• meet with new lecturers as part of their induction and offer initial training
• support lecturers throughout the term train lecturers on how to mark new assignment briefs
• ensure that lecturers are aware of any new course content updates, lesson plans and exercises
• attend key training events each term, and as required assist with training delivery
• course development – course notes, lessons plans, student exercises etc.
• write new assignment briefs and associated rubrics each term
• resubmission support
• attend committees – eg. Programme Development Committee
• Personal Tutor responsibilities
• understand, implement, monitor, and fairly enforce all the relevant School policies
• understand the School’s mission and educational objectives and strive to implement them

Person Specification:
• at least 5 years of relevant/current Industry experience
• experience of teaching at HE level
• educated to at least degree level
• PGCertHE qualification
• an understanding of teaching methods – planning, delivery, assessment and evaluation of learning
• an awareness of different learning strategies and teaching methods suitable for teaching a diverse range of abilities.
• excellent oral and written communication skills to communicate effectively with staff and learners
• excellent administrative and organisational skills
• creativity and innovation – to make sure the module is exciting and inspiring
• Industry insight – to ensure that the syllabus is relevant and constantly kept up to date
• project management – to ensure actions and tasks meet deadlines
• leadership & training – to inspire lecturers and other module leaders to carry out best practice
