The all new Chrysalis Records continues to grow under the control of former Chrysalis Music boss Jeremy Lascelles and producer Robin Millar’s Blue Raincoat company. The relaunched label’s latest move is to hire John Dyer as Managing Director.

“John’s track record speaks for itself”, says Lascelles. “He has worked for many of the leading independent labels and in his recent spell at Domino, a company we much admire, he has worked with and helped to break some of the most exciting, important British bands of the last decade. He will be a huge asset here at Chrysalis Records and is an indication of the ambitions we have for the label”.

He’s right when he says his new MD has “worked for many of the leading independent labels”, by the way, because as well as being Director Of Operations at Domino Records, Dyer has previously held roles at [PIAS], Mute and Rough Trade.

“It had to be a very special company and challenge for me to make a move, and taking on the MD position at Chrysalis fulfils both those criteria”, says Dyer. “The company is packed with talented people and of course has an amazing history. It will be a privilege to take the label forward and work with the current and future artists”.

Dyer’s work will be aided by that recent signing of a label services deal with Kobalt.

In other Blue Raincoat-related news, Dermot James has been appointed General Manager of the whole group, overseeing the running of Chrysalis Records, Blue Raincoat Songs and Blue Raincoat Artists.
