Kanye West fans mount Twitter campaign to score rapper the Super Bowl gig
By Andy Malt | Published on Tuesday 16 August 2016
Adele has already confirmed that she has declined an offer to play the half time show at next year’s Super Bowl, and before any offer had even made, she being ever the most efficient of popstars. Now fans of Kanye West are now mounting a Twitter campaign to persuade American football chiefs at the NFL, and the sport’s sticky syrup peddler of choice, Pepsi, that they should book the rapper to do the musical turn during America’s big sporting event in 2017.
I mean, what could go wrong with that? Because we all know how much the NFL and its corporate sponsors love something a little bit edgy and controversial. And we all know how much West likes to tow the line to keep his booker’s business partners and Middle America TV audience happy. Though when West decides to perform a dramatic n-word filled set at Super Bowl 2017 on the lines of his BRITs performance a couple of years back, at least we’ll be able to re-run this gag in our coverage of it.
So yeah, #KanyeWestForSuperBowl51 I say.
