Kasabian are the ultimate Glastonbury headliner, says Kasabian frontman

Kasabian

Kasabian’s Tom Meighan is upset that his band weren’t asked to headline Glastonbury this year, the festival instead asking Kasabian wannabes Arctic Monkeys, Mumford & Sons and The Rolling Stones to top the bill.

Meighan told the NME: “I’m not playing second fiddle to those bands. We’re just as good, if not better. We’re the ultimate, we’re the headline band. But he didn’t call us, the bastard. Glastonbury’s on our ‘to-do’ list. All he’s got to do is pick up the phone. We’ve got every fucking right to headline Glastonbury cos we’re good enough. It will happen”.

Of course, it’s entirely possible the call didn’t come this year because Kasabian were already committed to headlining Hard Rock Calling, which takes place on the same weekend as Glastonbury. But I’m sure calling Michael Eavis a bastard will help for next time.
