Kate Bush is playing live, and everyone is very excited
By Andy Malt | Published on Friday 21 March 2014
Kate Bush is going to perform live, everyone. Kate Bush. The Kate Bush. Yes, her. The shows will take place at the Hammersmith Apollo in August and September, with tickets priced at various levels between ‘a fortune’ and ‘a fucking fortune’. Still, she’s not played any gigs since 1979, so you can’t blame her for wanting to make up some of the difference.
Speaking about the shows Kate Bush said: “I am delighted to announce that we will be performing some live shows this coming August and September. I hope you will be able to join us and I look forward to seeing you there”.
Playing under the title ‘Before The Dawn’, it’s not exactly clear what structure the shows will take. Who knows with Kate Bush, eh? It might be a crowd-pleasing greatest hits run through, or she might not even sing at all. Or maybe she’ll just hum some half-finished new material from backstage. She’s not done a gig for 35 years, she’ll have forgotten how it’s supposed to work.
Tickets go on sale at 9.30am next Friday (28 Mar). It’s going to be one of those always popular deals where only the person who booked the tickets will be able to pick up them from the venue on the night of the show. And then only with seventeen forms of ID, the credit card they paid for the tickets with, and a note from their mum.
The dates, by the way, are: 26, 27, 29, 30 Aug and 2, 3, 5, 6, 9, 10, 12, 13, 16, 17, 19 Sep.
