Katy Perry Super Bowl shindig results in 1000% Missy Elliot download boost

So, Katy Perry sang some songs during a football game this weekend, did you notice? There were dancing sharks and dancing non-sharks, and a bit of flim and a dash of flam, and a marvellous time was had by one, and by all, and by him, and by her, and by your ‘mom’.

Assuming your mom is Missy Elliot, who performed a rather well received guest spot during the proceedings that – the record industry’s stat monkeys are now reporting – resulted in a big surge of interest in her tunes online which could see Elliot shift 70,000+ downloads in the US this week, a 1000% increase on her online sales the week before the show. So that’s nice, isn’t it? Get some download sales in before the downloading of music stops in its entirety come mid-March.

And in all seriousness, if you didn’t see Perry’s Super Bowl half time show on Sunday night, then you didn’t see it. And that’s the truth. And I’m serious about the truth.
