Live Review: King Charles at The Great Escape 2010 on 13 May

King Charles

International Songwriting Competition winner King Charles certainly made a good impression at the Queens Hotel today, despite the small size of the venue. In fact, he and his band managed to use the room to their advantage, creating an intimate atmosphere and providing an energetic performance that made up for the lack of space.

With a mixture of influences from reggae to rock to rap, the music was a diverse and eclectic mix, but still easy to lose yourself in. That said, while this fusion was interesting and different, it did begin to feel a bit repetitive towards the end of the show.

However, the intensity of the performance and the enthusiasm of the group managed to keep even the most apathetic audience member entertained. JTP
