Kodak sign up rappers for ads
By CMU Editorial | Published on Thursday 16 September 2010
Kodak have gone a bit hip hop with their latest marketing campaign, signing up Drake, Trey Song and Pitbull to front a series of TV adverts in the US to promote their social network friendly Easyshare digital camera, which has a ‘share button’ that users can press to tag the photos they want to upload to Flickr, a social network or Kodak’s own photo website. Music video director Chris Robinson has been hired to oversee the ads, which will be part of the photo firm’s So Kodak campaign.
Very much on message, Drake confirmed his involvement in the campaign this week, telling reporters: “Being on the road, I’m often away from family and friends. Kodak – with features like the Share Button – makes it easier to keep in touch, which is important to me. I’m excited to be part of the So Kodak campaign since it is all about expressing yourself, something I strive to do in my music everyday”.
The whole partnership is due to kick off with a gig featuring the three hip hoppers in New York next month. It’s thought the campaign will involve other c’lebs moving forward too.
