LadBaby is Christmas number one, with The Kunts at number five

LadBaby is the Christmas number one for 2021, meaning they have now topped the UK festive chart for four years running with sausage roll themed parody songs.

Although, of course, this year they won the Christmas chart race with a little help from their main rivals, Elton John and Ed Sheeran. The latest LadBaby track – ‘Sausage Rolls For Everyone’ – features both John and Sheeran, and is a parody of their new song ‘Merry Christmas’, which is at number two in the Christmas singles chart.

Stat fans may be interested to know that ‘Sausage Rolls For Everyone’ secured over 136,000 chart sales in the last week, with 85% of that total coming from downloads, making this whole venture a nice little boost for that not-dead-but-nearly music format, as well as The Trussell Trust, the food bank charity LadBaby’s single supports.

LadBaby – or Mark Hoyle and family, if you prefer – are the first act to score four consecutive Christmas number ones, meaning they have now out-performed both The Beatles and the Spice Girls, who both achieved three festive chart toppers in a row.

The other contender for the 2021 Christmas number one to gain significant interest was The Kunts and their track ‘Boris Johnson Is Still A Fucking Cunt’, a follow up to their 2020 classic ‘Boris Johnson Is A Fucking Cunt’.

That is at number five in the final countdown – which is where the earlier Kunts record appeared in last year’s Christmas chart. Wham’s ‘Last Christmas’ and Mariah Carey’s ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’ make up the rest of the top five.

Commenting on their fourth Christmas number one, LadBaby told OfficialCharts.com: “Thank you, thank you, thank you to the great British public, for every single person in this country that has downloaded and streamed this song over the last week. You’re all absolute legends”.

“Thank you for helping us raise the profile, raise money and awareness for the Trussell Trust, the food banks in the UK and helping support the 14 million people in this country that are living below the poverty line. We couldn’t have done it without you”, he went on. “It means so much to us, and thank you so much for all the support, positivity and love that has been given to us over the last few weeks … over the last four years!”
