Le1f signs to XL/Terrible for new EP
By Aly Barchi | Published on Monday 24 February 2014
So you’ve probably danced to his 2012 hit ‘Whut’ in tha cluhb, and now, off the back of that and other past singles, NYC rap man Le1f has signed jointly to XL Recordings and Terrible Records.
The MC, born Khan Diouf, will release a five-track digital EP titled ‘Hey’ via the labels on 11 Mar, with a vinyl pressing set to follow in May.
Says Le1f via Billboard: “I’ve dreamed of recording for XL since I was like fifteen and I’m super excited to be working with all of my Terrible labelmates. I’ll be doing the same stuff that I’ve been doing but on another level. It’s an interesting challenge and I like that”.
Terrible Records’ Ethan Silverman, who runs the independent with Grizzly Bear’s Chris Taylor, adds: “Hip hop is probably the genre that I personally listen to the most, if I’m being honest. It’s always been something that I was passionate about and this felt appropriate. Le1f fits perfectly into the Terrible spectrum of personalities”.
And what finer way to end this than by previewing ‘Hey’ track ‘Boom’?
