Lil Wayne to make Tha Carter V his last solo LP (probably)
By Aly Barchi | Published on Friday 14 March 2014
Music’s reigning boss-of-depositions (sorry, Biebs) Lil Wayne is threatening to retire as a solo artist again, this time making it more real by confirming that his forthcoming fifth LP, ‘Tha Carter V’, will be his last lone endeavour. With one slim exception; he might consider doing a sixth for… oh, just a tiny $25m fee. Minimum.
Anyway, speaking with MTV re ‘Tha Carter V’, the optimistic MC said that, whilst he’d carry on “pitching in” on collaborations with his Young Money label fam, “I personally plan on this being my final solo album, yes and it’s definitely the final Carter album. It’s the final Carter album. It’s stopping at five”.
Asked if anything might change his mind, he said “25 to 35 million would get me to do another solo album after this”, adding: “I didn’t smile when I said it”.
See, this is Weezy being serious. Kind of. MTV sets the ‘Tha Carter V’ release date at 5 May, though apparently that’s still moveable.
