Conflicting rumours that former Warner Music recorded music chief Lyor Cohen was planning to launch a record label or a management company could both be true, with the New York Post reporting that the record industry veteran is planning to launch a new business that would incorporate both a label and talent development wing.

The paper says that Cohen is in talks with various possible financial backers about launching a new music-focused company, that would operate as both a label and management business, while also possibly investing in other music ventures, including digital set ups. Specifics are vague just now, expect that Cohen is reportedly in talks with “strategic investors” rather than existing music firms regards financial backing for any new company.

As previously reported, Cohen departed Warner Music somewhat suddenly last September, having been a key player at the major under the company’s previous top man Edgar Bronfman Jr.
