Mad Decent issues statement after cruise guest falls overboard

Diplo-led music firm Mad Decent has issued a statement after an attendee on its Mad Decent Boat Party cruise fell overboard last night, apparently deliberately. The incident happened while the ship was sailing the Yucatan Channel between Mexico and Cuba.
“The ship’s crew immediately initiated rescue measures, including deploying three rescue boats and notifying the coastguard and other relevant authorities”, said the label. “The search for the guest is ongoing. Both the ship and charter company teams are providing support to the family and all impacted guests during this difficult time”.
The cruise set sail from Miami on Wednesday and is set to reach its final destination of the island of Cozumel off Mexico on Sunday.
Exactly what the incident means for the cruise now is not clear – a request for further information was not immediately returned. However, Billboard reports that the music was stopped and attendees sent back to their cabins after the alert was raised. The ship reportedly returned to the last point that the missing person was known to be on board.
