Matador 21st anniversary boxset to get UK release

A boxset to commemorate Matador Records’ 21st anniversary, which was given a US release date last month, will also make it to UK stores, it has been confirmed.
The six CD set will feature 99 tracks from across the New York label’s history, as well as an 85 page book documenting the history of the label and 36 Matador poker chips. The first five discs cover specific periods of the label’s releases, while the last features unreleased tracks and live recordings from the company’s last anniversary party eleven years ago. Disc five, entitled ‘Matador Today’, will also be released on vinyl.
All of the proceeds from sales of the release, along with all artist royalties, will be donated to three charities chosen by the label’s owners – Jane Addams Hull House Association of Chicago, The Ali Forney Center in New York The Heart Institute at Children’s Hospital in Los Angeles.
