Mazes’ Jack Cooper making 24 hour LP
By CMU Editorial | Published on Wednesday 21 November 2012
What are you doing today? Jack Cooper of London/Birmingham band Mazes is making an LP titled ‘Cape Clear’, so that’s nice and productive. He intends to do it all – writing, recording, mixing – over 24 hours, and it’ll be available to buy via BandCamp this time tomorrow.
This new mini-initiative follows Cooper’s 2011 ‘Art Is Cheap’ scheme, whereby he composed original tracks to order for anyone who asked, and had £10. He says: “I’ve been reading a lot recently about sleep and its five stages so the music I intend to make will reflect those… music that you could perhaps listen to whilst asleep or at least on the verge. It’ll be mainly improvised, based around drones and loops”.
As the day goes on, audio and video previews of what Jack’s doing will be appearing in real-time via capeclear.tumblr.com, so go have a look.
