Single Review: Milk Kan – God With An iPod (Blang)

Milk Kan

Any record that slags off Nirvana within the first couple of verses should, in the great food chain of rock, be shot to hell never to return again. However, Milk Kan’s ‘God With An iPod’ could very well be the exception of this unspoken rule. This is the Londoners’ first official release from their upcoming debut album due out in February, and is a tongue-wedged-firmly-in-cheek urban hymn dedicated to the big man up in the sky and his shit taste in music. Just like Nizlopi (remember them?), the band are a little dubious and gimmicky – nevertheless their music has a genuine feel to it despite the ridiculous lyrics, similar to American funny-man Jonathan Coulton or Flight Of The Conchords. What holds them back however is their staying power – and if they truly have any. TW
