When wig maker Terrence Davidson announced he was ending his creative partnership with Nicki Minaj just over a year ago, he said “it has been an amazing experience offering me a chance to express my creativity and exhibit my love for the art form of wig design”. But now he’s suing the rap lady, claiming that she’s nicked his wig creations and cost him $30 million in lost deals by making unfulfilled promises.

Davidson’s lawsuit, filed with the US District Court in Atlanta last week, claims that he turned down other media and design work because Minaj said she wanted to launch a reality TV show and a wig line with the designer. But, says Davidson, despite implied contracts in relation to those projects, he found himself increasingly shut out of Minaj’s projects, until the two ultimately parted company last year. She then set up her own wig line exploiting Davidson’s designs, he alleges.

According to Billboard, a legal rep for Davidson, Christopher Chestnut, claimed of Minaj: “She lied, cheated and stole from him – [and instigated] a misappropriation of his intellectual property”.

The rapper is yet to respond to the legal claims.
