The PRS For Music Foundation has announced the third round of grants awarded by the Momentum Music Fund.
Launched by Arts Council England and the PRS For Music Foundation at last year’s Great Escape Convention, the Momentum Music Fund provides financial backing to aid the development of contemporary music acts. To date, two rounds of funding have been handed out, benefitting artists including Andreya Triana, Darkstar and Dutch Uncles.
Receiving grants of £5000 to £15,000 this time round are:
Auntie Flo – for recording and promotion of her debut album
Beth Jeans Houghton – for recording and mixing of her second album
East India Youth – for live show production and album marketing
Elephant – for video production for two upcoming singles
Ghostpoet – for studio time and production of his third album
Glitches – for recording and mixing their debut album
Smiler – for promotion of single and album releases
Years & Years – for UK tour and studio costs
Previously funded band Jaws have also been awarded an additional £2500 by Deezer, with which PRS has partnered on the official Momentum Fund app.
Newly funded artist Ghostpoet (pictured) added: “This welcomed fund will enable me to fulfil my dream of creating a third record and keep the momentum going in my career”.
PRS For Music Foundation chief Vanessa Reed and Arts Council boss Alan Davey will both take part in a conversation at this year’s Great Escape looking at the new fund one year on (full details of which will appear when the full TGE conversations programme goes live later this week). Four funded acts will also play at a special Great Escape showcase.
Commenting on all of this, Reed told CMU: “After launching the Momentum Music Fund at The Great Escape last year it’s great to be returning to celebrate its first birthday. I look forward to sharing our insights of working in partnership with Arts Council England and Deezer to deliver what has quickly become the go-to fund for talented artists on the cusp of career take-off”.
The deadline to apply for the next round of funding is 3 Jun, further details on which you’ll find here.
