Mr C auctioning Ebenezer Goode codpiece for charity
By Andy Malt | Published on Monday 16 June 2014
Ah, the 90s. Remember them? A time when everyone in pop was wandering around in codpieces like it was nothing. Mr C from The Shamen, he was one. Bobbing around in the ‘Ebeneezer Goode’ video wearing nothing but heavy bondage gear, pretending not to rap about drugs. And, now you can own the very codpiece that Mr C wore in that outfit, because he’s auctioning it off for charity.
Explains Mr C: “For many years I’ve thought about auctioning my infamous fetish harness and codpiece that I wore on the Shamen’s UK number one smash hit video, ‘Ebeneezer Goode’, and our memorable Top Of The Pops performances of the same song, for a charity. And I’m honoured to now do this for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust”.
The winning bidder won’t just get the codpiece for their money though. Mr C continues: “Just before doing the first ‘Top Of The Pops’ performance back in September 1992, I’d had some bad press from the Daily Star who were sensationalising the drug reference in their national daily smutty rag and also the indie inky Melody Maker had been running a weekly spoof attack on me as an annoying rapper (which many believe I was… lol). So I stuffed the cod piece with these two articles for the ‘TOTP’ performance, which remain in the cod piece to this very day and will stay there as an exciting addition to this very sought after item”.
There are a few other items thrown in, as well. The bidding as of this morning stands at £600, and you can bid yourself via Facebook here.
And here’s a video of Mr C with some newspaper shoved down his pants:
