Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake and more may be forced to cancel Finland shows due to US sanctions against Russia

Scheduled performances at the Hartwall Arena in Helsinki by Miley Cyrus, Justin Timberlake, Nine Inch Nails and Aerosmith may be cancelled, due to US sanctions against Russia, reports the BBC.
The Finnish venue is owned by Gennady Timchenko and brothers Arkady and Boris Rotenberg, all of whom appear on a list of “members of the Russian leadership’s inner circle”. In total, the US Treasury has placed sanctions on 27 people closely linked to Russian President Vladimir Putin, in response to Russia’s intervention in the Crimea.
Whether sanctions would stretch as far as a company such as Hartwall, which hasn’t been officially sanctioned itself, will depend on the exact ownership structure of the business. All the American artist shows are due to take place in May and June, and are still listed as going ahead as planned on the venue’s website.
A US Treasury spokesperson told CMU: “If a Specially Designated National indeed owns 50% or more of Hartwall Arena, then US persons would be prohibited from dealing with the arena unless they apply for and obtain an OFAC license to conduct such dealings. We have no further comment on the ownership structure of Hartwall Arena”.
Representatives for the Hartwall Arena did not respond to requests for comment.
