New Björk LP rush released after album leak
By Chris Cooke | Published on Wednesday 21 January 2015
Björk’s new album ‘Vulnicura’ is OUT NOW. Right now. Like, this very second. Out.
“But CMU”, you all cry. “You clearly stated just last week that this new record would be unleashed in March and not a moment sooner, what the hell are you doing delivering such misleading tosh directly into our inboxes, ill-preparing our brains for when to expect new Björk goodness in musical form?”
Well, shut your collective faces CMU readers, the release has been brought forward two months after one of those pesky online album leaks that the kids participate in these days, usually in dark alleyways that don’t smell too good.
All of this applies only to the digital release, mind. The CD and vinyl versions of the record won’t be around until March, ie as originally planned. Unless a steady stream of leaked CDs start being distributed round town, I guess.
The retrospective exhibition at the Museum Of Modern Art in New York that the album release was timed to coincide with will also still open on 7 Mar. Unless anyone from Team Björk sees a leaked galley exhibition. Then there might need to be a rethink there as well.
So “hurrah”, new Björk sooner than we though. But “boo”, down with the leakers messing with her well thought out plans. And “hmmmmmmm”, does it matter if records leak anymore, or should labels just ignore such things and carry on regardless. And “argh”, I’ve run out of things to say about all this.
