New Creative VP at Warner Bros US
By Chris Cooke | Published on Thursday 16 January 2014
The US wing of Warner Bros Records appointed a new Exec VP of Creative Operations earlier this week, because creative operations definitely need to be executively, erm, vice-presidented.
The new recruit is Peter Thea, one of the more interesting record industry veterans, with a background in both entertainment law and sound engineering, as well as fifteen years experience in label management and A&R at Jive and Island Def Jam. Reporting into Cameron Strang, Thea will work closely in his new role with the also-recently appointed Dan McCarroll, now President of Warner Bros Records.
Strang told CMU: “Peter comes to us with more than three decades of wide-ranging experience. From his early days as a recording engineer to his accomplishments as an attorney and most recently as an A&R executive, he boasts an expansive blend of talents – from making records to making deals – as well as great relationships throughout both the artistic and business communities”.
Thea himself added: “I am thrilled to be joining Cameron, Dan, and the entire WBR team. It’s very exciting to be at a label I have admired for so many years for its passionate devotion to artists and their music. It’s a dynamic time in the company’s great history, and I look forward to being a part of the next chapter and working with everyone to develop long-term musical careers for WBR’s present and future roster of exceptional talent”.
