New Kendrick Lamar LP to feature Dre
By Aly Barchi | Published on Monday 16 June 2014
Kendrick Lamar Duckworth has confirmed that his TBA latest LP will feature beats, and possibly some rapping, by Dre.
Lamar has recently been head-to-head with the hip hop Dr it seems, making a follow-on to 2012’s acclaimed ‘Good Kid, MAAD City’ (also a Dre production). It’s set to be released later this year.
Alluding to his collaborator’s recent Beats-related windfall, and his supposed new job at Apple, Lamar told KUBE 93 last week: “One thing about Dre, you can’t take the music away. No matter how much money he has, he’s always gonna be right there in that studio. That’s before the deal, after the deal. He’s always locked in there. That’s something that I know personally”.
In a separate chat with KMEL (via MTV), Kendrick said re the LP at large: “It’s in the process. We cooking”. And yet, he deliberately didn’t get too specific, adding: “I couldn’t say. I couldn’t give a false pretence on where I’m at. I can’t even give a date or a time, but it’s going to be an event”.
