New Note go into administration

Jazz and world music distributor New Note has announced it is going into administration – a knock on effect from the much previously reported liquidation of Pinnacle distribution, who handled the physical movement of CDs from the labels New Note represents.
As previously reported, after Pinnacle’s collapse New Note quickly announced it had a new deal in place with Proper Music who would take over the physical distribution role from Pinnacle – New Note and Proper had been planning an alliance before Pinnacle went into administration.
However, despite that deal, delays in payments to New Note as a result of Pinnacle’s collapse have now forced it to go into administration. Proper will, however, continue to distribute for the labels represented by New Note.
Proper boss Malcolm Mills is quoted by Music Week thus: “They [the New Note labels] understood that what happened wasn’t a result of New Note’s trading, it was the demise of Pinnacle. They have all pledged their support. There will be a new company that will handle the distribution of their labels working with Proper”.
