Chicago-based catalogue label the Numero Group has formed a partnership with the Secretly Canadian record companies which will be known as the Secretly Label Group.

Under the new alliance, Secretly Canadian owners Ben Swanson, Chris Swanson and Darius Van Arman will become partners in the Numero Group. The catalogue label will continue to be based out of Chicago with its own marketing and A&R team, while Secretly Canadian and sister labels Dead Oceans and Jagjaguwar will also continue to have their own A&R and marketing operations, but all the Group’s companies will share back-office services such as accounting, technology and legal affairs.

Confirming the new partnership, Numero co-founder Ken Shipley told CMU: “We’ve known Chris, Ben and Darius since we were all on indie training wheels. Watching their companies grow from off-the-map vanity imprints to taste-making powerhouses has been a thrill to watch, and we’re pumped to join what we know will be a formidable bloc of important record companies for decades to come”.

Chris Swanson added: “Numero Group is the greatest reissue label in the world. Partnering with them is a dream come true. Their impeccable taste, unparalleled research acumen and keen business instincts are already making us a stronger, more well-rounded label group”.
