Single Review: Official Secrets Act – The Girl From The BBC (One Little Indian)
By CMU Editorial | Published on Monday 16 March 2009
‘The Girl From The BBC’ is apparently “one of the lighter moments” from Official Secret Act’s forthcoming debut album, ‘Understanding Electricity’. As it trudges along the waves, stomping from left to right like a soldier built like a brick shit-house, not a lot can be said about the perceptions one might summon of the remaining, darker material. That said, the track is, in a word, intriguing. Influenced by Television and The Fire Engines (who isn’t, these days?), ‘The Girl From The BBC’ has that certain static-y, apathetic yet supercilious retro thud that Franz Ferdinand and White Rose Movement are also keen explorers of. Not exactly genre dissolving stuff, but guaranteed to become well-liked amongst the contemporary art-punk massive. TW
