PIAS announces Roisin Murphy deal
By Chris Cooke | Published on Wednesday 18 February 2015
The Play It Again Sam label announced a worldwide licensing agreement with that there Roisin Murphy on Monday, with her first album in eight years due to be released under the alliance on 11 May. It will be called ‘Hairless Toys’.
Revealing that 30 tracks came out of the most recent recording sessions with her long time collaborator Eddie Stevens, of which eight will appear on the new album, Murphy told reporters: “To select just eight songs from the vast batch written last year required some pretty vigorous editing. The record could have been much longer but this seemed like just the right combination, and in fact the sequencing fell into place with more ease than any other album I’ve made”.
Meanwhile Peter Thompson, MD of the PIAS label, said: “When you get the chance to work with a talent like Roisin you have to take it. She is an amazing addition to the Play It Again Sam family. I have always been a huge admirer of her work and ‘Hairless Toys’ is a thrilling body of work”.
