Playdio launches

Kudos today launches in beta its previously reported ‘Spotify radio’ service Playdio.

As previously reported, Kudos’s distribution division will distribute digital spoken word files in the same way they distribute music tracks, making them available to the Spotify catalogue. This means independent radio presenters or groups can make radio shows available via the streaming music service, by setting up a playlist that glues together their spoken word links and the music they want to play. Said playlists will be made available via the Playdio website.

Presenters to use the Playdio system at launch include Phill Jupitus, Peter Curran and Mark Webster. Their shows can be heard right now at www.playdio.com.

Says Kudos Records MD Danny Ryan: “We are delighted to declare Playdio open for business and very proud to be able offer such a fine selection of opening shows from the likes of Phill Jupitus and Phil Wilding, Mark Webster, Dom Servini and Peter Curran. On demand, interactive radio seems like such a natural idea. As much as people have embraced services like Spotify, it’s also clear that in a world of unlimited musical choices we still need people with passion, knowledge and experience to help us pick our way through the music maze”.
