Polaris announces UK panel event

Having announced the shortlist for this year’s Polaris Music Prize last month, organisers of the ‘Canadian Mercury’ have also announced their first every UK-based ‘salon event’, which will take place at Rough Trade East in London on 30 Aug.
The record shop will play the ten shortlisted albums on its stereo throughout the day, and will host a panel discussion on music journalism between 6.30pm and 7.30pm. Media represented on the panel will include Drowned In Sound, iD, Q and Rock Sound.
The overall winner will be announced at a ceremony in Toronto on 23 Sep.
