Pussy Riot members post video in support of jailed bandmates
By CMU Editorial | Published on Friday 7 September 2012
Two members of female punk outfit Pussy Riot have posted a video online in support of their three bandmates who were recently sentenced to two years in jail in Russia for performing a protest song against the country’s President Vladimir Putin in a Moscow church.
In the video, the two Pussy Riot members abseil down a building, set fire to a photo of Putin, and hit out at him and the ruling class in their home country. They then thank the other artists around the world who have spoken out in support of their three jailed bandmates, in particular Madonna, Green Day, Björk and The Red Hot Chili Peppers.
As previously reported, jailed Pussy Rioters Maria Alyokhina, Nadezhda Tolokonnikova and Yekaterina Samutsevich are all appealing their convictions.
