Release Round-Up: Afghan Whigs, My Chemical Romance, Small Black feat Frankie Rose and Woman’s Hour

Rounding up the latest release news…
First, it’s time to whig out to the sound of the once-split, twice-reunited Afghan Whigs‘ first single since 2007, which in turn is the first to be taken from the group’s first LP in sixteen years, ‘Do To The Beast’. The longform disc isn’t out until 15 Apr, but Sub Pop’s kindly given this new track ‘Algiers’ a nice mournful clip to look at right now:
And look, sticking with the bad mood hits, it’s over to My Chemical Romance, who contrary to the Whigs are breaking apart for good. Or at least, for now. Anyway, the band have released a new track titled ‘Fake Your Death’ in celebration of their ‘Black Parade’ to splitsville, which will feature on their greatest hits LP ‘May Death Never Stop You’.
Its title, they say in sync, “is fitting, because as sad as it was to say goodbye to the band, we look at this collection as a celebration of our best songs, and hope the memory of them continues to bring joy to you all as they have for us. We hope you take the journey with us into MCR’s past, and enjoy the small taste of what might have been”. ‘May Death Never Stop You’ is released on 24 Mar. And in its stead here’s ‘Fake Your Death’:
Third let’s lift the vibe with a new single by chillwave (if that’s still a thing) scene-escapees Small Black, who’ve hired the blooming great Frankie Rose to do singing on their track ‘Lines Of Latitude’. Scale the Frankie-featuring heights of ‘Lines’, which will be released with SB’s new ‘Real People’ EP on 1 Apr via, no lie, Jagjaguwar, right here:
Winging in last like a sad, plaintive bird, it’s airy London band Woman’s Hour‘s ‘I Need You’, which will be released back-to-back with their last track, ‘Her Ghost’, via Secretly Canadian on 24 Mar. Find a quiet place and listen to it here:
