Frànçois And The Atlas Mountains

Rounding up the latest release news…

Hardcore flag-wavers OFF! have switched fans on to this new LP, ‘Wasted Years’, they’re releasing via Vice Records in week #1 of April. It has sixteen tracks to it, each laid – live and unedited – to eight-track tape by the band themselves in their practice space. So basically it’s about as DIY as is possible. Oh, and its cover art is by Raymond Pettibon, who did Sonic Youth’s ‘Goo’ sleeve of 1991, and designed Black Flag’s iconic logo. Details and a tracklisting are via this link, and see an interview with the band here, via NPR.

Softly softly pop artisans Frànçois And The Atlas Mountains (from France) are also in the act of introducing an LP, titled ‘Piano Ombre’. The band’s fourth such outing, it follows 2012’s ‘E Volo Love’, and comes out via Domino in March. Hear one of its tracks, ‘La Vérité’ (which is available as an ‘instant grat’ gift to fans who order the LP now), via this ‘Tube player:

Smoke Fairies, of brooding folk infamy, have moved over to the Full Time Hobby label to release their eponymous third LP on 14 Apr. “This album gave us the opportunity to actually be two voices, rather than two voices as one entity: two people talking to each other as distinct characters”, says the pair’s Katherine Blamire, on harmonising with co-vocalist Jessica Davies. Hear their voices at play via sample ‘Smoke Fairies’ track ‘Eclipse Them All’:

Also taking a third crack of the LP whip are odd-pop troupe Colourmusic, who will on 24 Mar release their new album ‘May You Marry Rich’, via Memphis Industries. So without further ado give one of its songs, ‘Horse Race’, a spin:
