Rock Radio expands regional DAB output after Smooth goes national
By CMU Editorial | Published on Monday 11 October 2010
Following the merger of all of Smooth Radio’s regional FM services to basically create one national station for the whole of England, the Guardian-owned easy listening enterprise has moved its digital radio output from the regional digital networks to the nationwide Digital 1 DAB network.
That left some potential gaps on the local DAB multiplexes in Yorkshire and South Wales, where former local Smooth outposts had always broadcast digitally. Those were filled on Saturday morning by another GMG-Radio owned service, Rock Radio. So, that’s lovely for all concerned.
