Slipknot have announced UK and Ireland tour dates for January next year. The dates will include a performance at Wembley Arena on 23 Jan.

Frontman Corey Taylor said: “The UK has always been very special for us. In a lot of ways, it’s where this insanity began. So, for this tour, we decided to try and hit as many places as we could – not only England, but Scotland and Wales as well. Technically Ireland is Europe, but we’re going there too. We’re coming back for the people who started this for us: that would be YOU. Prepare yourselves… Hell is coming”.

Of course “technically” the UK is Europe too. I think he means “technically Ireland isn’t the UK”, but it’s special for Slipknot as well. So well done Ireland!

Korn will be supporting on the tour, which may or may not be depressing for the nu metal pioneers. Still, they should take consolation in the fact that, while they may have been overtaken by a band who arose in their wake, they’re being billed as “special guests”. The press release explains that the “support band” is actually still to be announced.

Slipknot’s new album, ‘The Gray Chapter’, is out next week too. And here are the dates:

14 Jan: Dublin, 3Arena
16 Jan: Sheffield, Motorpoint Arena
18 Jan: Glasgow, SSE Hydro
19 Jan: Newcastle, Metro Radio Arena
20 Jan: Manchester Arena
22 Jan: Liverpool, Echo Arena
23 Jan: London, Wembley Arena
24 Jan: Cardiff, Motorpoint Arena
26 Jan: Nottingham, Capital FM Arena
27 Jan: Birmingham, Barclaycard Arena

Oh, and here’s the video for new track ‘The Devil In I’:
