The Smashing Pumpkins have signed an artist services deal with the US division of BMG Chrysalis to release two new albums though the band’s own Martha’s Music label.
Frontman Billy Corgan recently announced that the band had already begun work on the two “grossly metallic” albums, titled ‘Monuments To An Elegy’ and ‘Day For Night’. An initial single is expected by the end of this year, while the two albums are scheduled for release in 2015.
Richard Blackstone, EVP Creative and Business Development, says of the new deal: “BMG Artist Services is thrilled to be the new home for Smashing Pumpkins’ next two album releases. Billy’s supreme musicianship and approach to the modern day music business together with his proactive and innovative management team at Prospect Park, is the perfect match for BMG’s new model for worldwide releases. Adding BMG to this great Smashing Pumpkin’s team is the perfect set up to usher in the next chapter of the band’s legacy”.
Separately from all this, Corgan is also planning to release a six disc re-issue of The Smashing Pumpkins’ 1998 album ‘Adore’.
