Songkick announce YouTube and Vevo partnerships
By CMU Editorial | Published on Wednesday 11 August 2010
The boss of live music social network gig recorder and recommender whatnot thingy Songkick has announced new partnerships with YouTube and Vevo.
The former will see a new ‘events near you’ list appearing on YouTube’s music home page, with information provided by the UK-based live music site. Universal and Sony owned Vevo, the YouTube-powered music video site already live in the US, will carry gig and ticket information provided by Songkick alongside videos. Songkick co-founder and CEO Ian Hogarth told Billboard: “From our point of view, this is one step closer to making it incredibly easy to find local concerts, whether you’re on Songkick or on another site discovering music”.
The new deals are part of Songkick’s move into the US market, a move aided by the recent hire of Caren Kellher, formerly of Paste magazine and Sony Music, to head up the company’s business development in North America.
