SoundCloud has employed the Global Radio-owned Digital Audio Exchange to deliver adverts to its platform in the UK and Ireland. It has also hired David Couch, formerly of Global’s Capital FM, as its Head Of Sales.

As previously reported, SoundCloud launched its SoundCloud Go subscription service and On SoundCloud ad platform in the UK and Ireland earlier this week, following Go’s US launch in March. This means that for £10 a month, users can remove ads from the site and access extra premium content. Though for the majority of free users, ads are going to become part of the SoundCloud experience, which means someone’s gotta sell some of the bloody things. Enter Global’s audio ads platform.

“DAX is growing at a phenomenal rate to keep pace with the demand in the market”, says Global’s Chief Commercial Officer Mike Gordon. “As more and more people spend time listening to digital audio, many advertisers have been quick to recognise the opportunity to reach these highly engaged audiences”.

He continues: “We targeted SoundCloud as an ideal partner we wanted to work with right at the beginning when we were developing the DAX platform. This is a huge milestone and a great testament to the success of DAX that the biggest audio streaming platform in the world is now a partner”.

DAX currently offers adverts across Global and Bauer’s radio networks. At launch, SoundCloud is carrying adverts from Squarespace and TuneCore, with more expected soon.
