One time hip hop mogul Suge Knight was taken to hospital after a short court hearing yesterday in which he pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and attempted murder.

As previously reported, Knight killed a man and injured another after he drove his pick-up truck into them outside a burger bar in LA last Thursday. He is accused of deliberately driving his vehicle into the two men, though he claims he struck Terry Carter and Cle ‘Bone’ Sloane by accident as he was fleeing from a violent altercation.

He yesterday pleaded not guilty to four charges in total all relating to the hit and run incident. He will remain in custody until at least next Monday when a separate bail hearing will take place. Bail was initially set at $2.2 million, but was revoked amidst fears he might flee or attempt to intimidate witnesses.

Just before his initial court hearing yesterday, Knight announced he was switching attorneys, with James Blatt, who was speaking for the former Death Row Records chief last week, replaced by David Kenner, a long-time legal advisor to both Knight and his former business empire.

Kenner admitted to journalists yesterday that he was still catching up on the specifics of the case. Asked if Knight was in anyway remorseful about last week’s incident, the lawyer said: “Of course… He feels bad that someone is deceased. [But] it’s not his fault”.

It’s not quite clear what occurred that necessitated Knight receiving medical treatment shortly after yesterday’s hearing, with reports of him experiencing both chest pains and a panic attack. But Kenner said his client was “doing fine” later in the day.
